Engine Generators for Electrical Power

Diesel engines and Gas Turbines are the most often used drivers for Emergency and Prime Power generators.  We have provided noise enclosures and acoustical treatment for both fixed and trailer mounted equipment.

Noise enclosure for a diesel-generator

The architect for a dormitory at a major university, wanted the Emergency Diesel-Generator to match the adjacent buildings.  This was accomplished by attaching fiberglass, faux bricks to the exterior of our 4" thick steel acoustical panel enclosure.

Acoustical Treatment of Cooling Air Intakes

A municipal water company installed a building with (4) diesel-generator units.  To avoid any noise complaints from nearby residential neighbors, the inside of the building was treated with acoustical blanket material.  In addition, the air intake hoods (shown here from underneath, during installation) were treated with a special rigid acoustical foam that can withstand water and UV.  Several baffles were fashioned from the same material to increase the noise attentuation.  One is shown, in place.

The Data Center for a large hospital system, had a noise concern for their nearby residential neighbors.  The cooling air intake for their Emergency Diesel-Generator was pointing directly towards those properties.  The solution was to install a bank of 7' long baffle type silencers in a sheet metal shroud with fixed louvers.

Acoustical Treatment of Engine Generator Hall

A City owned electric utility wanted to avoid possible noise complaints from residential neighbors directly across the street from their plant.  The equipment supplier requested our assistance in recommending and supplying materials to address this need.

The 32' high interior walls of the Engine Hall were lined with 4" thick acoustical panels.
